FundedInk Licensing Policy
Version 2026-10-17 · Effective date: to be set at release
This policy explains what a FundedInk license is, what you may do with it, what counts as sharing, and how FundedInk checks licenses while collecting as little about you as possible. It is part of the Terms of Service and the End User License Agreement; if they conflict, the EULA governs the software and this policy governs how the license is used and checked.
1. One license, one person
A FundedInk license is a personal, non-transferable lifetime license for the FundedInk Trading Journal, bought once for US $6.99 and tied to the FundedInk account (your Google sign-in) that bought it. The account holder is the only person entitled to use it.
2. What you may do
- Install and use FundedInk on the Windows and macOS computers you personally own or control, with the same account, on up to 3 computers at the same time. One license covers both platforms.
- Buy from our website or from inside the app; either way the license is attached to the Google account you are signed in with. There is no license key, serial number or activation code.
- Replace a computer, reinstall the operating system or FundedInk, or move to a new machine. A new installation simply becomes a new device on your account; a computer you stop using frees its slot after 30 days of inactivity, or at once when you release it under Settings → License.
- Use FundedInk anywhere: travel, hotel networks, mobile hotspots and VPNs make no difference. FundedInk does not use your location or IP address to judge your license.
- Restore your license on a new or reinstalled computer simply by signing in again.
3. What is not allowed
- Selling, giving away, lending or otherwise transferring your FundedInk account or license to anyone.
- Sharing your sign-in so that other people use your license, including family members, trading groups or business partners. Each person needs their own license.
- Reselling or distributing license tokens, credentials or copies of a licensed installation.
- Circumventing, disabling or tampering with license verification, including editing or forging license files.
- Creating accounts with false identities, buying with stolen or unauthorized payment details, or using another identity to get around an earlier suspension or ban.
Using your own license on your own computers, within the device limit, is never "sharing".
4. How licenses are checked
When you sign in, and from time to time afterwards (about every six hours while the app is open, and whenever you press Refresh purchase status), FundedInk reads your own account's license record from our provider: whether the account holds an active lifetime license, and whether the account is restricted. The answer is kept on your computer, encrypted with your operating system's data-protection facilities, and is good for 7 days; after that it is honoured for a further 30 days while you are offline, with a notice asking you to go online once. If a check cannot be made and nothing is stored yet, the paid features stay locked until one succeeds. Reading and exporting your journal always works, licensed or not.
Where the device-slot service is in use, the same check also registers this computer against the device limit and returns a signed license that your computer verifies; the periods above apply to it in the same way.
5. What the check records, and what it does not
The license check itself sends your account's sign-in session and reads your own license record; it sends nothing about this computer or your journal. Where the device-slot service is in use, the following is recorded, for licensing only:
- A random device identifier created by the app on each installation (not a hardware or serial number), a label such as "Windows PC", and the first and last time that device checked in.
- The time and outcome of each check (known device, new device, or device limit reached), whether the license presented by the app verified, and the app version.
- Your account identifier and license status.
Not recorded by FundedInk: your IP address, location, hardware details, other software, network type, or anything about your journal. Our hosting provider's standard server logs may hold connection details for a short time for its own security purposes, as described in the Privacy Policy. Check records are deleted after 90 days; device records stay while the device is active and are removed when you delete your account.
6. Reviews and decisions
Patterns such as repeatedly refused activations, devices handed around in quick succession, or forged license files can raise a flag for a person to look at. A flag never changes your account by itself. Only an authorized administrator can restrict or close an account, with a recorded reason, and you can always appeal. How that works, and what it means for refunds, is in the Account Termination Policy.
7. Changes
We may update the device limit or the grace periods for future versions; the limits in force at the time of your purchase stay available to you unless the change is in your favour.
